Our belief is that every women deserves a doula for continuous labor support. Many times the labor staff in the hospital can not provide one on one care for continuous labor support. A doula can fill in the gaps, doula's know that emotional care is just as important as the medical care in labor and that the emotions in labor play a very important role in the process and outcome of birth. The doula can help transition mom from home to the hospital setting with more ease and comfort while reducing stress and anxiety that can interfere with labor.
We are a community based doula program established in January 2007 to provide access to services for all expectant mothers. We offer many opportunities for fee services.
We are also a training site for labor doulas and many are working on certification and can offer a low fee during training. See our service fee page.
Services began in January 2007. We currently have 7 certified labor doulas through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) and several in training.
